The Velma Clark Excellence in Teaching About Ag Award application has opened!

The Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation hosts Maryland’s Ag in the Classroom Program (AITC). Under the umbrella of Maryland AITC, MAEF will honor a Maryland teacher that integrates the concepts of agriculture into non-agricultural curricula. Agriculture is an important part of everyone’s life, and is one of the largest industries in Maryland. This award was created to recognize and honor an educator in Maryland for efforts and achievements in teaching students the importance of agriculture.

The Maryland Agriculture Education Foundation is asking you to help us in good ol’ fashioned barn raising this #GivingTuesday. We are asking those who are fortunate enough to have a few extra dollars in their pockets to help us put a copy of this year’s ag literacy selection, Chuck’s Ice Cream Wish (Tales of a Dairy Godmother) by Viola Butler, into the hands of students across the state. For every $10 raised, MAEF will donate a book to a local school library!

2020’s Ag Literacy Book – Order Yours Now!

PB&J Hooray! is this year’s children’s book selected for MAEF’s Ag Literacy Program. Through the Ag Literacy Program, literacy volunteers set up a time to visit in a nearby school and read to students in grades K-3. Following the reading of the book, volunteers conduct an activity with the students and share their experiences in agriculture.  The book is then left in the classroom or media center.
